“Woah!” I cried
I tripped over a rock. I quickly got up and started running again. Where should I take the book? I thought, but I was quickly interrupted from my thoughts when I heard some more large footsteps stomping toward me. Before I could react, the king nightcrawler had grabbed me from behind!
“I told you that you’re not putting us back to sleep!” the monster roared.
He grabbed the book from my hand and tore it apart.
“No!” I screamed.
The book had been destroyed. Now there was no way for us to win. The monster then loosened his grip and dropped me on the ground. He then walked away, causing more destruction.
“Kevin!” I heard a familiar voice call. I turned around and saw Mom running toward me.
“Kevin,” she asked. “Are you hurt?”
“No Mom.” I replied.
“Thank goodness,” she cried. “So, where’d the book go?”
I had almost forgotten about the book.
“I-I-I”
“Did something bad happen?” mom asked worried.
“Yep,” I replied sadly. “The book ripped in half.”
“Oh no! what are we going to do?”
I kept thinking about what we could do to stop this. We could easily just kill them all with weapons, but that would take to long. We could round them up and burn them, but that also would take to long.
“Wait!” I cried. “There’s another way!”
“Whats your idea?” Mom asked.
“The books letters are still good. We could put the ripped pages together and read it like that!”
“Good idea!” Mom cheered.
We then got on our knees and started putting the pages back in order. I hope this works. I thought.
“We just need one more page.” Mom said.
We searched around for the page for about 2 minutes. No sign of the lost page.
“Where could it be!” I cried.
The only thing I could think of was the King Nightcrawler. Maybe he has the page. But then I heard a loud crash. I turned toward the noise, and there stood another Nightcrawler! It slowly walked toward us, its large feet sinking into the dirt. A low growl escaped the ugly monster’s mouth. Its menacing, red eyes glowed.
“Hurry, Kevin. Run!”
I was so tired from all of the running, but I knew that the world’s fate was not far away, so I bolted out from behind the buildings. I searched for the King Night Crawler. No sign of him. BOOM! A large truck exploded, and behind it stood a Night Crawler. Why are there so many? I thought. I saw more police officers trying to hold off a Night Crawler that was trying to destroy a nearby restaurant. This one seemed far bigger than the others. Then another thought came to my mind. The King! And on one hand, there stood the last page.
The huge monster roared and threw the police officers off him. Then he smashed the restraints, walls, and the roof. I saw a large, clawed hand flick a switch on a large furnace. He’s going to burn the page! I ran as fast as I could to the large night crawler. People were running the opposite way. I weaved through the debris and toward the burning furnace.
“Don’t do this!” I screamed.
“To late.” The monster growled, as he began setting the page onto the raging fire.
But before he could place the paper onto the fire, mom came in with a silver pistol!
“Time to say good night!” Mom cried. Then she shot a large, silver bullet that I’d never seen before out of the gun. The bullet penetrated through the Nightcrawler’s hand. The monster roared in pain. This is my chance, I thought. I snatched the paper out of the monster’s hand.
“Wheres the book!?” I asked mom.
“You don’t need it, just read that page!”
I began reading the letters very fast.
“One day, a ton of creatures came out of the woods. They searched for food and destruction. But then someone discovered a book that could stop the monsters from causing havoc.”
“Stop!” The monster roared. “stop reading!” But I ignored the monsters pleas.
“The man read one single page in the book that put the monster back to sleep. Everyone was happy now that the monsters were gone. The end.”
“NOOOOOOOoooo!” The king nightcrawler fell to its knees, then onto its belly.
“Yay!” I cried.
“YOU DID IT, SON!” Mom cheered.
“Wait,” I started. “Theres one more problem.”
“What was that?” Mom asked.
“How are we going to clean all of this up”
