The Origin of the Night Light

The small town of Maplewood had been undergoing attacks by strange monsters. Every night, at 10:00 PM, the monsters would crawl out of dark spaces like closets and underbed frames. They would wreck homes, looking for someone’s soul to consume.

One day, an old man moved into the town. He had heard about the monsters. He said that he was going to get rid of them. The people of Maplewood laughed at him. That night, everyone hid as usual. They did not think that an old man could solve their problems, but little did they know that he was not just an old man. He was a professional.

The man had been studying the monsters. He saw that the monsters came out at night when it was dark. He also noticed how the creatures would come from dark places. After some thinking, he guessed that the monsters had a fear of lights, so the man designed a light specifically made for dark places. Once the old man was finished, he came to Maplewood to test it out.

The man waited until it was 10:00 PM, and sure enough, the monsters came. His house went cold. A faint fog drifted through the home. Just as the creature crawled out of the dark corner, the man plugged in the night light. To him, the light was just enough for the man to see in the dark room, but for the monster, it was as if a thousand flashbangs exploded right Infront of the monster’s eyes. The monster let out a horrifying screech, then faded away.

“It worked!” the man cried.

The next day, the old man walked out of his house. Everyone else’s home was destroyed, but his home didn’t have a single scratch. Other people saw that his house was still completely fine.

“How is your home still together?” a man asked.

“I just used this little light.” the old man said.

Soon, other people started to use the night light. The more they used it, the less attacks happened. There hasn’t been a single attack in over 15 years, all thanks to a silly invention called the night light.
